According to police reports, the accused couple, who were friends of the victim, had been residing with her. Taking advantage of her disability, they allegedly stole a significant amount of cash and gold jewellery worth Rs 49 lakh. When questioned, the couple reportedly confessed to the crime, stating that they needed money. They claimed to have used the cash and pledged the gold jewellery at a local jewellery shop. However, they refused to return the stolen items.
