A tragic incident has been reported from a village in Panipat district, Haryana, where a couple allegedly ended their lives by suicide. The incident came to light on Tuesday when neighbors noticed the house locked from inside and informed the police.
Details of the Incident
The deceased have been identified as Rajesh (35) and his wife Priya (30), residents of the village. According to preliminary reports, the couple was under financial stress and had been facing family disputes. No suicide note was recovered from the spot.
Police officials reached the scene after receiving information and broke open the door. The bodies were found hanging from the ceiling fan in their bedroom. They were sent to the civil hospital for post-mortem examination.
Police Investigation Underway
Station House Officer (SHO) of the local police station, Inspector Dharambir Singh, said that an investigation has been initiated under Section 174 of the CrPC. The bodies have been handed over to the family after post-mortem. The police are also recording statements of family members and neighbors to ascertain the exact cause behind the extreme step.
Preliminary inquiries suggest that the couple had been married for 10 years and had two children, who were at school at the time of the incident. The children are now under the care of relatives.
This incident has shocked the local community, with many expressing grief and concern over the rising cases of suicide due to financial and personal issues. Authorities have urged people to seek counseling and support in times of distress.
