Court Directs FIR Against Police Officers for Alleged Assault on Advocate in Lalitpur
In a significant development in Jhansi, a court has intervened to ensure legal action against police personnel accused of assaulting an advocate. The Chief Judicial Magistrate, Mayank Jaiswal, has ordered the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) against two sub-inspectors, a constable, and a home guard stationed at the Lalitpur Kotwali police station.

The case stems from an incident that occurred on the night of December 7, 2025. Advocate Kripal Singh, a 39-year-old junior advocate practicing at the district and sessions court, visited the police station to register a case on behalf of a client. According to the victim's allegations, he had initially called the police after his niece faced harassment from some individuals. The police responded by taking him, along with the girl and her relatives, to the station.
When Kripal Singh raised objections during the proceedings, he was allegedly subjected to physical assault by the officers present. The accused have been identified as Sub-Inspectors Lalit Ujjwal and Deepak Dagar, both posted at the Dailwara police outpost, Constable Deependra, and Home Guard Parmar Singh. All four have been booked under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) based on the complaint filed by Kripal Singh.
Victim's Account and Legal Proceedings
In his statement, advocate Kripal Singh recounted the harrowing experience, stating, "I kept telling the police that I had come to plead for my clients, but they did not spare me. Later, I attempted to lodge a formal complaint, but it was not entertained. Despite instructions from the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), the police did not allow my medical examination to be conducted." Consequently, he took himself to the civil hospital for necessary treatment.
The judicial intervention came on March 17, when Chief Judicial Magistrate Mayank Jaiswal issued orders under Section 173(4) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) for the FIR to be registered. The court also mandated that a copy of the FIR be submitted for judicial review, underscoring the seriousness of the allegations.

Reacting to the court's directive, Additional Superintendent of Police Kalu Singh addressed the media, affirming, "We are thoroughly investigating the matter and will take suitable action based on the findings of the investigation report."
