Bareilly: Police have registered an FIR against three individuals and several unidentified youths after a CCTV footage allegedly captured an 18-year-old being drowned by his cousin in an unauthorized swimming pool in Salarpur Kalan village under Nakhasa police station in Uttar Pradesh's Sambhal district.

Incident Details

According to police, the victim, Sohil, had gone to the pool with his cousin around 1 pm on Monday when the incident occurred. The footage purportedly shows the accused holding Sohil underwater for nearly two minutes while repeatedly looking around. Sohil briefly resurfaced and attempted to swim to safety before sinking again. His body was later discovered at the bottom of the pool after another swimmer accidentally struck it with his feet.

Family Suspicion and Investigation

Sohil's family, residents of Pipli Rampur Milak village, became suspicious after bringing the body home, as he knew how to swim. They later reviewed the CCTV footage, which allegedly revealed the forced drowning. ASP (North) Kuldeep Singh stated, "The family refused to file a complaint and also refused a post-mortem of the child. Police, on their own behalf, registered an FIR against three persons, including the pool owner, Haji Maqsood, his sons Wasid Khan and Mohammad Owais, and unidentified youths. Further investigation is underway."
