Cousin Stabs Man to Death Over Wedding Song Dispute in Gujarat's Limbdi
A tragic family dispute over playing songs at a wedding turned fatal in Gujarat's Surendranagar district, resulting in the death of a 25-year-old man allegedly stabbed by his teenage cousin. The incident occurred in Limbdi taluka, with police swiftly arresting the accused and launching a detailed investigation under the new Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Fatal Altercation at Wedding Celebration
According to police reports, the victim, identified as Deepak Solanki from Vastral in Ahmedabad, had travelled with his family to Limbdi to attend a relative's wedding on March 26. During a late-night 'dandiya' event on March 27, an argument erupted between Deepak and his 18-year-old cousin Aman Chavda regarding which songs should be played.
The dispute escalated when Aman allegedly snatched Deepak's phone from the DJ and insisted on using a different device for music selection. Although relatives managed to pacify the situation temporarily, tensions simmered beneath the surface.
Deadly Afternoon Attack
The conflict turned violent the following afternoon when Deepak stepped out to a nearby shop. Police state that Aman allegedly attacked Deepak with a knife, inflicting severe neck injuries. Despite his wounds, Deepak managed to return to the wedding house before being rushed to Limbdi government hospital.
He was subsequently referred to Surendranagar for advanced treatment but succumbed to his injuries during medical care, leaving behind a three-year-old son.
Swift Police Action and Investigation
Limbdi deputy superintendent of police Vishal Rabari confirmed that authorities apprehended Aman Chavda within hours of the incident. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including Section 103(1), which pertains to murder.
Police are actively working to recover the weapon used in the crime and establish the complete sequence of events. Preliminary investigation reveals that Deepak worked as a labourer, adding economic vulnerability to the personal tragedy.
Legal Proceedings and Family Impact
The complaint was formally filed by Deepak's father, 54-year-old Jayesh Solanki, detailing the events leading to his son's death. The case highlights how seemingly minor disagreements at family gatherings can escalate into violent tragedies with lasting consequences.
Authorities emphasize that the investigation remains ongoing, with forensic evidence and witness statements being collected to build a comprehensive case against the accused.
