Crime Branch Seizes Rs 15.6 Lakh Liquor After Chase

Ahmedabad: The crime branch seized Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) and beer valued at Rs 15.6 lakh following a high-speed chase through several parts of the city in the early hours of Monday. The suspects abandoned the vehicle carrying the contraband and escaped in another vehicle that was escorting it.

Tip-Off Leads to Operation

Acting on a tip-off, crime branch personnel laid a trap near Helmet Circle in Memnagar. Police received information that a vehicle carrying a large consignment of IMFL and beer was moving towards Vijay Crossroads and was being escorted by another vehicle.

High-Speed Chase

As the two vehicles approached them, police officers signalled them to stop. However, both drivers allegedly sped away. Crime branch teams chased the vehicle through Vijay Crossroads, Darpan Six Roads, and Navrang Circle before finding it abandoned near a residential area in Naranpura. The drivers boarded the escort vehicle, which could not be intercepted, sources said.
