Cyanide Bomb Hoax Triggers Panic and Evacuation at Etawah Head Post Office
Panic gripped the Etawah head post office on Wednesday after authorities received a chilling threat email claiming the building would be destroyed using cyanide gas bombs. The anonymous message sent to headquarters in Lucknow sparked immediate alarm, leading to a swift evacuation of employees and visitors from the premises.
Specific Threat Details and Immediate Response
According to officials, the email alleged that 19 bombs had been planted on the post office grounds, with an explosion scheduled for 2:10 PM. The threat specifically mentioned the washroom and passport Seva Kendra as locations where the explosives were supposedly placed. This detailed information heightened fears and prompted a rapid security response.
Police forces, along with specialized dog squads and other security agencies, rushed to the scene. They conducted an extensive search operation that lasted for several hours, meticulously scanning the premises for any suspicious objects or explosive materials.
Threat Declared a Hoax After Thorough Investigation
Despite the intensive efforts, no evidence of bombs or hazardous materials was discovered. Senior Superintendent of Police Brijesh Kumar Srivastava confirmed that the threat appeared to be a false message circulated by a miscreant with the intent to spread panic and disrupt normal activities.
The cyber cell team is now actively investigating the anonymous email ID from which the threat originated. Authorities have assured that the accused will be identified and face strict legal action for causing public disturbance and wasting valuable security resources.
This incident underscores the serious consequences of hoax threats, which not only create widespread fear but also strain emergency services. The Etawah community is relieved that the situation was resolved without harm, though the investigation continues to prevent future occurrences.
