Details of the VIP Cavalcade Incident
Police authorities reported that traffic police and personnel from the Sector 31 police station were deployed along the route to manage security for the VIP movement. According to CCTV footage examined by investigators, Sundar Lal allegedly entered the road from the wrong side, despite the area being closed off for the cavalcade. The ambulance driver attempted to apply brakes from a distance of 20 to 25 metres but was unable to prevent the collision, which left the cyclist critically injured.
Sundar Lal was rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Sector 32, where he succumbed to his injuries. His body has been kept in the mortuary at GMCH-32 for an autopsy. The car driver stopped immediately and, with the assistance of passers-by, pulled Bablu from under the vehicle and admitted him to GMCH-32, where he later died from his injuries.
