Dabwali Police Achieve Major Breakthrough in Drug Trafficking Crackdown

In a significant development in the fight against narcotics, the Dabwali police have made a substantial breakthrough with the arrest of four accused individuals. The operations resulted in the recovery of 503 grams of heroin and 2.7 kilograms of opium, with an estimated street value of approximately Rs 1.14 crore. Additionally, a car was seized during the coordinated raids, marking a critical success in ongoing efforts to curb drug smuggling in the region.

First Operation: Heroin Seizure Under Bharatmala Bridge

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sandeep Dhankhar, the first operation was conducted by a team from the CIA Staff, Kalanwali, led by Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Dilawar Singh. On March 10, while on patrol under the Bharatmala bridge along the Dabwali–Kalanwali road, the team received a credible tip-off. The information indicated that three individuals were transporting a large consignment of heroin from Punjab in a vehicle.

Acting swiftly on this intelligence, the police established a barricade and initiated vehicle checks. Shortly after, a car was observed approaching from the Bathinda direction. Upon noticing the police presence, the driver attempted to reverse the vehicle, but it stalled, allowing the officers to quickly surround and detain the occupants.

The three individuals were identified as Jagmeet Singh, Malkit Singh, and Bhagwan Singh, also known as Fauji. During a thorough search of the car, police recovered 503 grams of heroin, which was concealed in a black polythene bag near the gear lever. This seizure underscores the proactive measures taken by law enforcement to intercept illegal drug shipments.

Second Operation: Opium Recovery Near Railway Crossing

In a separate but simultaneous operation, the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) of Dabwali, under the leadership of ASI Ranjodh Singh, made another significant arrest. On the intervening night of March 10–11, the ANC team received specific information that Deepa Singh, a resident of Kanakwal alias Ratangarh in Bathinda district, Punjab, was planning to supply opium in the Kalanwali area. He was expected to arrive by train that night.

The police promptly set up a checkpoint near the Takhtmal railway crossing in Kalanwali. As anticipated, a young man carrying an attache was seen approaching from the railway station. Upon spotting the police, he attempted to flee but was swiftly apprehended by the vigilant officers.

In the presence of a gazetted officer, a search was conducted, leading to the recovery of 2.7 kilograms of opium from the attache. This operation highlights the effectiveness of targeted intelligence and rapid response in disrupting drug supply chains.

Police Statements and Ongoing Efforts

DSP Sandeep Dhankhar emphasized that these recoveries were part of special operations conducted by teams from the CIA Staff, Kalanwali, and the Anti-Narcotics Cell, Dabwali, aimed at cracking down on drug smugglers. He commended the efforts of the officers involved and reiterated the commitment of the police force to continue such rigorous actions against narcotics trafficking.

The arrests and seizures not only represent a major blow to local drug networks but also serve as a deterrent to potential offenders. The police have assured that further investigations are underway to uncover any additional links and connections in these cases.
