Decomposed Body Retrieved from Dumka Pond, Police Investigate Suspicious Circumstances
In a grim discovery, police in Dumka on Monday retrieved the decomposed body of an unidentified man from a local pond, raising immediate concerns about the circumstances surrounding his death. The incident unfolded when residents in the town area spotted the body floating in the Khunta Bandh pond during the morning hours, prompting swift action from law enforcement.
Police Response and Initial Findings
A specialized police team, led by Sadar Sub Divisional Police Officer Vijay Kumar and Town Police Station Officer-in-Charge Jagnnath Dhan, was dispatched to the scene to conduct the retrieval operation. The body was carefully extracted from the water and subsequently transported to the Phulo Jhano Medical College and Hospital for a comprehensive postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
Key evidence recovered from the deceased included a pair of scissors and dendrite adhesive found clutched in his hand, which has led investigators to suspect that the man may have drowned while under the influence of intoxicants. This discovery has added a layer of complexity to the case, as police work to piece together the events leading up to the tragedy.
Suspected Timeline and Ongoing Investigation
Based on the advanced state of decomposition, authorities believe that the individual likely drowned several days prior to the discovery. The police have launched a thorough investigation to identify the man and uncover any potential foul play or underlying factors contributing to the incident.
"The presence of scissors and adhesive in the deceased's hand is a significant clue that points toward possible intoxication at the time of drowning," stated the Officer-in-Charge, emphasizing the need for a detailed forensic analysis. As the community grapples with this unsettling event, police are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward to assist in the inquiry.
