In a tragic incident in Dehradun, a 39-year-old labourer has been arrested for allegedly stabbing his wife to death following a domestic dispute. The incident occurred in the Jolly Grant area, with police confirming the arrest on Sunday.

According to police reports, the accused, identified as Gopal, returned home from work on Friday evening. Upon his arrival, he engaged in an argument with his 30-year-old wife, Pratibha. The dispute escalated violently when Gopal allegedly picked up a kitchen knife and stabbed Pratibha twice in the stomach.
Neighbours, alerted by the victim's screams, rushed to the scene and immediately transported Pratibha to a nearby hospital for emergency medical treatment. Despite their efforts and the prompt response, Pratibha succumbed to her injuries on Saturday, highlighting the severity of the attack.

The couple resided in rented accommodation in Jolly Grant, where the incident took place. Following the tragedy, Pratibha's brother lodged a formal complaint with the authorities. Based on this complaint, police registered a case under murder charges against Gopal.
Sub-Inspector Chintamani Naithani of the Jolly Grant police outpost provided details of the investigation. "Pratibha's brother lodged a complaint, following which police registered a case under murder charges," stated Naithani. "Gopal was produced before a local court, which sent him to jail."
