Tragedy Strikes Delhi Morning Commute
A devastating high-intensity explosion tore through a slow-moving car during Monday morning rush hour at a traffic signal near the Red Fort metro station, triggering chaos and destruction across multiple vehicles.
The powerful blast claimed at least nine lives and left twenty others injured, including two women, in one of Delhi's most significant security incidents in recent times.
Victims and Hospital Scenes
All casualties from the Delhi car blast were immediately transported to Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan (LNJP) Hospital, located just kilometers from the explosion site. The hospital premises became a scene of profound grief as family members gathered, many crying uncontrollably while praying for their loved ones' recovery.
Outside the LNJP mortuary, the heartbreaking cries of two young boys echoed through the corridors. One child mourned the tragic loss of his father, identified as Dinesh Kumar Mishra. A relative confirmed to reporters that Mishra worked in the Red Fort area and his body had been sent for post-mortem examination.
According to official records from LNJP Hospital, the twenty injured victims include twelve Delhi residents and eight people from other states, including Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh.
Identifying the Victims
Police authorities confirmed that nine people lost their lives in the explosion, noting that one severely mutilated body was recovered from the blast site. Among the deceased, two have been positively identified.
Ashok Kumar, 34, originally from Amroha in Uttar Pradesh, and Amar Kataria, 35, from Delhi were named among the fatalities. The remaining victims, yet to be identified, are believed to be between 28 and 58 years old.
The youngest among the injured has been identified as 21-year-old Shivam Jha from Usmanpur, Delhi, highlighting the random nature of the tragedy that struck ordinary commuters during their morning routine.
As investigations continue, security agencies are working to determine the cause and perpetrators behind the explosion that has shaken the capital city and left numerous families shattered.
