Delhi Flyover Murders: 'Baba' Arrested for Poisoned Sweets Killings, Linked to Past Crimes

In a chilling case that has shocked the capital, a self-styled godman has been arrested for the alleged murder of three individuals on Outer Delhi's Peeragarhi flyover. The accused, identified as Kamruddin alias 'Baba', is suspected of feeding the victims sweets laced with poison before fleeing with their cash amounting to Rs 2 lakh. This incident, which occurred on Sunday morning, has uncovered a disturbing pattern, as police reveal Baba was previously arrested for two similar murders in Uttar Pradesh last year.

Details of the Peeragarhi Flyover Incident

The bodies of Randhir Singh (76), Shiv Naresh Singh (47), and Laxmi Devi (40) were discovered in a car on the Peeragarhi flyover. Randhir and Shiv, both property dealers from Najafgarh's Baprola village, were acquaintances, while Laxmi's family stated she had been in contact with a godman to help her sick second husband. According to police, Laxmi introduced the two men to Baba, who convinced them to perform a 'pooja' for financial gain, requesting Rs 2 lakh in cash, liquor, and cold drinks for the ritual.

On the day of the incident, the trio met Baba and traveled to Peeragarhi to conduct the ritual at their preferred location. During the journey, Baba allegedly prepared laddoos laced with poison and persuaded the victims to consume them along with liquor and cold drinks. After they lost consciousness, he reportedly took the cash and escaped. DCP (Outer Delhi) Sachin Sharma confirmed these details, highlighting the calculated nature of the crime.

Past Crimes and Modus Operandi

Police investigations have linked Baba to a previous case in May 2025, where he allegedly used the same method to kill two men in Makkhanpur, Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh. In that instance, the victims, Ram Nath and Puran, were fed poisoned sweets after Baba promised to help them recover hidden wealth through rituals. An FIR filed by Nath's brother, Ram Singh, accused Baba of coaxing the victims into consuming a poisonous substance and instigating them to commit suicide. Their bodies were found near a closed glass factory, with items like liquor and lemon nearby.

Further digging into Baba's criminal history reveals an earlier case from February 2014 in Rajasthan, where a woman went missing and was later found dead in a drain. Baba and two others were named as accused, with police stating the woman was strangled after alleged harassment by her husband's family. Baba, a resident of Firozabad who operated tantric centers in Loni and Firozabad, is married with seven children and has been remanded in five-day police custody.

Investigation and Police Statements

Authorities have emphasized the similarities between the Peeragarhi flyover murders and the 2025 Firozabad case, noting Baba's consistent use of poisoned sweets to incapacitate victims before stealing their money. In both incidents, he allegedly promised financial rewards through rituals, exploiting the victims' trust. Police are now reviewing forensic evidence and witness statements to build a stronger case, while also exploring potential links to other unsolved crimes.

The arrest has raised concerns about the activities of self-styled godmen in the region, prompting calls for increased vigilance. As the investigation continues, police are urging the public to report any suspicious behavior related to such individuals to prevent further tragedies.
