A disturbing incident has come to light in Delhi where a man was arrested for allegedly killing his 10-month-old daughter due to financial stress and then staging a kidnapping to cover up the crime. The accused, identified as Ravi Kumar, a resident of the national capital, was taken into custody by the Delhi Police after a detailed investigation.
The Incident
According to police reports, the incident took place on May 20, 2026, when Ravi Kumar reported that his infant daughter had gone missing from their home in the Shahdara area. He claimed that he had left the child sleeping inside the house and when he returned, she was nowhere to be found. Acting on his complaint, the police registered a case of kidnapping and began a search.
Investigation Reveals Truth
During the investigation, the police found several inconsistencies in Ravi's statements. After interrogating the accused and analyzing evidence, including CCTV footage and call records, the police cracked the case. Ravi broke down during questioning and confessed to the crime. He admitted that he had killed his daughter by smothering her because he was unable to bear the financial burden of raising a child.
The accused further revealed that he had dumped the body in a nearby garbage dump to avoid detection. He then fabricated the kidnapping story to mislead the police and his family.
Legal Proceedings
The police have recovered the infant's body and sent it for post-mortem. Ravi Kumar has been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, including murder and destruction of evidence. He was produced before a local court and sent to judicial custody.
This case has shocked the local community and highlighted the severe impact of financial stress on mental health. Authorities have urged people to seek help from counseling services if they are facing financial or emotional difficulties.
