A 36-year-old woman was brutally murdered allegedly by her husband inside her own boutique in North-East Delhi's Jafrabad area in the early hours of Sunday. The Delhi Police have arrested the 55-year-old husband, who confessed to the crime driven by suspicion of his wife's extramarital affair and disapproval of her lifestyle.
Early Morning PCR Call and Discovery
According to the police, a crucial PCR call was received at 2:06 AM on Sunday, reporting a woman lying unconscious inside a shop in the Maujpur locality. A response team from the Jafrabad police station immediately rushed to the scene. They found the boutique's shutter partially closed and the woman, aged around 36, lying lifeless on the floor.
The victim was swiftly transported to JPC Hospital, where attending doctors declared her brought dead. A forensic team was summoned to the boutique to meticulously examine the crime scene and collect potential evidence. The woman's body was sent for a post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death.
Husband's Confession and Motive
During the initial investigation, a key detail emerged: the woman's mobile phone was missing. This raised immediate red flags and pointed towards foul play. Police teams began questioning family members and acquaintances.
The probe quickly zeroed in on her husband, identified as 55-year-old Satish, a resident of Maujpur. Under sustained interrogation, he allegedly broke down and confessed to strangling his wife following a heated argument.
A senior police officer revealed the motive behind the horrific act. "He suspected her of having an extramarital affair and confronted her about it. He also objected to her habit of going out for dinners and parties, and the tension between them escalated," the officer stated. The alleged misunderstanding spiraled into violence. Acting on his disclosure, the police also recovered the missing mobile phone.
Legal Action and Ongoing Probe
The Jafrabad police station has registered a case under Sections 103 (murder) and 305 (theft in a dwelling house, etc.) of the newly enacted Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
While the primary accused is in custody, the investigation remains active. Police are working to piece together the precise sequence of events that led to the murder. They are also looking into whether there were any prior complaints of domestic discord or violence between the couple, which could provide further context to this tragic incident.
