With Eid-ul-Fitr just one day away, authorities in Delhi have significantly heightened security across the Dwarka district, as neighboring Uttam Nagar in West Delhi remains tense following a fatal incident on March 4. Police have established more than 100 pickets, with personnel strategically positioned on rooftops and at key junctions to closely monitor movement in sensitive areas, ensuring a vigilant presence during the festival.

Security has been further tightened around the Uttam Nagar East metro station, following specific directives from the Delhi High Court. This move aims to bolster preparedness and prevent any potential unrest during Eid celebrations, with authorities emphasizing a proactive approach to maintain public order.
A senior police officer detailed the extensive arrangements, stating, "We have made detailed deployment plans and are ready to respond swiftly to any situation." The officer highlighted that additional forces have been deployed in Hastsal village, where the March 4 killing occurred, and in surrounding localities. This includes a joint deployment of Delhi Police and central armed forces at strategic locations to enhance security coverage.
Background of the March 4 Incident and Arrests
The heightened security stems from an altercation on March 4 during Holi celebrations in JJ Colony. According to police reports, Tarun, aged 26, died after being injured in a clash between two neighboring families. The conflict was triggered when a water balloon thrown by a girl from one family accidentally hit a woman from the other, escalating into violence.
The incident led to protests by certain groups, during which two vehicles linked to the accused were set on fire. In response, police have arrested 14 individuals, including two minors, in connection with the case, underscoring efforts to address the underlying tensions.

Authorities have intensified security around mosques, Eidgahs, and other public gathering spots where large crowds are anticipated for Eid prayers and festivities. Pradeep Shukla, president of the Uttam Nagar Residents Welfare Association, noted that while the visible security presence has brought a sense of control, anxiety remains. "There is heavy barricading, and movement has reduced. It feels unusually quiet. People are still worried, but we are hoping things remain peaceful," he said, reflecting the cautious optimism in the community.
