Delhi Schools Targeted by Bomb Threat Emails, Prompting Major Security Response
Multiple schools in the national capital were thrust into a security crisis on Monday morning after receiving bomb threat emails, leading to immediate evacuations and large-scale emergency operations. According to an official from the Delhi Fire Services, at least three educational institutions, including the prominent Sardar Patel Vidyalaya and Salwan Public School, were targeted in this alarming incident.
Swift Action by Security Agencies
Upon receiving the threatening communications, school administrations acted promptly, alerting both the fire department and local police. News agency PTI reported that the notifications were made without delay, triggering a coordinated response from multiple security units.
"Teams from the local police, bomb disposal squad, dog squad and fire department were immediately dispatched and security checks are underway," confirmed the DFS officer. He further noted that the fire department had received emergency calls from two of the affected schools as the situation unfolded.
Precautionary Evacuations and Thorough Inspections
As a standard safety protocol, all students and staff members were evacuated from the premises while security personnel conducted detailed anti-sabotage inspections. These comprehensive checks covered classrooms, corridors, and surrounding areas to ensure complete safety.
Officials have stated that nothing suspicious has been discovered during these searches so far, providing some relief amid the tense atmosphere. The thorough examinations continue as authorities work to verify the credibility of the threats.
School Communications and Parental Updates
In a message circulated to parents, Sardar Patel Vidyalaya administration provided reassurance about student safety while outlining their response plan. "This morning the school received a security threat. As a precautionary measure, the police are in school for necessary security measures. All students have been evacuated safely," the communication stated.
The school further explained that once the premises are declared completely secure, classes will resume for junior school students. For senior school students, examinations will recommence following the all-clear from security authorities.
Ongoing Security Assessment
The incident has highlighted the vulnerability of educational institutions to such threats and the importance of robust emergency response systems. While the immediate danger appears to have been addressed through precautionary measures, security agencies remain on high alert as they investigate the source and credibility of the threatening emails.
This security scare comes amid heightened awareness about school safety protocols across the capital region, with authorities emphasizing the need for continued vigilance and rapid response capabilities in educational settings.
