Tragic Delhi Accident Claims Life of Two-Year-Old Girl

A devastating road accident in outer Delhi's Alipur area on Sunday resulted in the death of a two-year-old girl and left two others, including the toddler's mother, with injuries. The incident occurred when a speeding SUV allegedly rammed into the family's car from behind, causing the child to be flung out of the vehicle window.

Details of the Fatal Collision

The car, which was carrying six occupants, was traveling from Delhi to Haryana's Sonipat when the tragedy unfolded around 2pm near the Khampur red light at Bakoli village. According to police reports and eyewitness accounts, the SUV bearing a Delhi registration number struck the car with significant force immediately after the traffic signal turned green.

"The SUV was being driven at a high speed," stated Ravinder (47), one of the injured passengers who filed the police complaint. "The impact was so severe that it caused our car to spin before hitting the road divider."

Immediate Aftermath and Medical Response

The injured victims have been identified as Aarti (28), the toddler's mother and a resident of Sevli, and Ravinder. Aarti was returning home with her daughter alongside her friend Jyoti and Jyoti's family when the collision occurred.

Emergency responders rushed the critically injured child to Satyawadi Raja Harish Chandra Hospital in Narela, where doctors declared her dead upon arrival. The toddler had celebrated her second birthday just days earlier on April 7.

Family's Heartbreaking Account

Ravi Dhaka, the child's uncle, shared the family's anguish with reporters. "They had left the windows open because the air conditioner was not working properly," he explained. "Our baby had just turned two years old and now she is gone forever."

Dhaka revealed that the family faced difficulties obtaining immediate assistance following the accident. "She was still breathing when she reached the hospital, but unfortunately succumbed to her severe injuries," he added emotionally.

Police Investigation and Legal Action

DCP (outer north) Hareshwar Swami confirmed that the SUV driver fled the scene immediately after the collision, abandoning the vehicle at the location. Police have seized both vehicles as part of their ongoing investigation.

A formal case has been registered under sections 281 (act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 106 (causing death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The investigation has been transferred to the Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) cell of the Outer North district, with authorities actively working to identify and apprehend the fleeing driver.

Broader Implications and Safety Concerns

This tragic incident highlights ongoing road safety challenges in Delhi's outer areas, particularly concerning speeding vehicles and hit-and-run cases. The family's revelation about traveling with open windows due to a malfunctioning air conditioner adds another dimension to the safety discussion surrounding vehicle maintenance and passenger protection.

Police continue their search for the accused driver while the grieving family mourns their unimaginable loss. The case serves as a sobering reminder of the devastating consequences that can result from negligent driving and inadequate vehicle safety measures on India's roads.
