Delhi Police Rescue Teenager, Apprehend Serial Offender in Disturbing Kidnapping and Assault Incident
In a swift and decisive operation, the Delhi Police have successfully rescued a 17-year-old girl who was allegedly kidnapped and sexually assaulted by a 35-year-old man. The accused, who was also absconding due to his involvement in another rape case, has been arrested, shedding light on a pattern of criminal behavior.
Timeline of the Crime and Rescue
According to police reports, a formal complaint regarding the kidnapping of the minor girl was lodged on April 4. The following day, on April 5, the girl was located and rescued at the Shadipur metro station, bringing a sense of relief to her family and the community.
The victim recounted to authorities that she was approached by an unknown individual on a black motorcycle at the Jahangirpuri metro station. He then took her to a hotel, where she was subjected to sexual assault. A subsequent medical examination of the girl confirmed the allegations of sexual assault, providing crucial evidence for the case.
Police Investigation and Breakthrough
In response, law enforcement officials registered a case under Section 64 (punishment for rape) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, underscoring the severity of the charges.
DCP (Central) Rohit Rajbir Singh detailed the investigative efforts, stating, "Our team meticulously examined CCTV footage from the Jahangirpuri metro station to Murthal. We discovered that the accused first took the girl to have food at a hotel in Murthal. During the return journey, she began feeling sleepy, and he suggested she rest, leading him to take her to another hotel near the Jahangirpuri metro station, where he booked a room."
Police traced the black motorcycle used in the crime, and the vehicle's owner cooperated by informing them that his bike was being used by a friend. He also provided the friend's address, which proved instrumental in advancing the investigation.
Arrest and Criminal History of the Accused
Although the accused initially fled the scene, he was eventually tracked down to Kashmere Gate on April 10, while attempting to escape to Bihar. His arrest marks a significant victory for the police in combating such heinous crimes.
Further investigation revealed that the accused has a troubling criminal record, with involvement in several other cases. These include offenses under the Arms Act and the Gambling Act, indicating a history of unlawful activities beyond the current allegations.
