Delhi Teenager Succumbs to Stabbing Injuries, Accused Dies in Separate Incident
A tragic sequence of events unfolded in northeast Delhi's Seemapuri area over the weekend, resulting in the deaths of two young individuals under violent circumstances. A 15-year-old girl, who was brutally stabbed on Friday, succumbed to her injuries at Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital on Saturday morning. In a separate but connected incident, the accused, a 24-year-old man, died shortly after the attack in a gas cylinder explosion at his residence nearby on Friday evening.
Family's Anguish and Details of the Attack
The young victim was declared dead at the hospital around 6 am. Outside her home, grieving family members recounted the horrifying moments. According to them, the teenager had stepped out briefly to purchase medicines from a nearby shop when she was attacked. Her grandmother was heard wailing inconsolably, repeating in distress, "She left saying she would be back in five minutes; she has not yet returned."
Her uncle provided further chilling details to reporters, stating that she bled for over twenty minutes before any assistance arrived. "The rage and brutality with which she was stabbed is unbelievable. She was stabbed over a dozen times," he expressed with profound sorrow. The girl had recently appeared for her Class X board examinations and was anxiously awaiting her results, a milestone now forever overshadowed by tragedy.
"We were all awaiting her results. We were so hopeful for her future," her uncle added, noting that the murder has instilled fear among local residents regarding their safety. Friends and relatives remembered her as a kind-hearted individual, deeply loved by those around her. Her aunt questioned the motive, saying, "We don't know why anyone would have wanted to hurt her. We have not been informed of any clear motive yet." The girl is survived by her grandmother, mother, father, and a younger sister.
Accused's Death and Family's Disbelief
Approximately two kilometers away, at the man's residence, relatives claimed he triggered the gas explosion himself, suggesting it was an act of suicide. They described him as an introverted person who worked as a delivery executive for an e-commerce company. His mother stated, "He never mentioned anything about a girl or having mental health issues, including depression or anger. He mostly kept to himself."
It is believed the man was alone at home during the explosion, with his mother at work. His father had passed away eleven months prior. Relatives expressed utter disbelief at the turn of events. His aunt lamented, "Had he been alive but gone to jail, he would still have been alive for his mother. She has no one else."
Police Investigation and Conflicting Accounts
While both families initially denied knowing each other, a senior police officer clarified that the two individuals were acquaintances. "The two knew each other and were acquaintances. Both the families were aware," the officer stated, though the exact motive remains under active investigation. It was reported that the pair had a telephone conversation prior to the incident.
Another officer provided additional context, explaining, "They knew each other from when the man's aunt was a neighbour near the girl's house two years back." He confirmed that the man is believed to have intentionally caused the explosion. However, there are conflicting accounts regarding the attack itself. While the girl's uncle alleged that more men, possibly intoxicated, were involved in the stabbing, police denied this claim based on CCTV footage. Only one person was visible in the footage at the scene, according to the officer.
The case continues to be probed by authorities as they piece together the events leading to this double tragedy, leaving two families devastated and a community in shock.
