Dharmapuri Couple Arrested for Brutal Child Torture Case

In a shocking incident from Dharmapuri, a woman and her paramour have been arrested for allegedly torturing her three-year-old daughter by burning the child's body with cigarettes. The Dharmapuri Town Police took both individuals into custody on Saturday following a hospital report that revealed severe abuse.

Hospital Discovery Leads to Police Investigation

The horrific cruelty came to light after the young victim was admitted to the Dharmapuri Government Medical College and Hospital around midnight on February 11. The child was suffering from serious health issues when hospital staff noticed clear signs of abuse on her body. Concerned medical personnel immediately reported their findings to the town police, triggering a swift investigation.

Background of the Accused Individuals

Police have identified the arrested individuals as Ezhilarasi, aged 23, and her paramour Ayyappan, aged 28, both residents from near Palacode. According to preliminary police inquiries, Ezhilarasi had married Sivashankar from Salai Vinayagar Kovil Street in Dharmapuri approximately four years ago, and the couple had a daughter together.

However, Ezhilarasi later entered into an extramarital relationship with Ayyappan. Several months ago, she separated from her husband and began living with Ayyappan, bringing her young daughter with her to their new residence.

Motivation Behind the Heinous Abuse

Police officials revealed that Ayyappan reportedly viewed the three-year-old child as an obstacle to his relationship with Ezhilarasi. He allegedly pressured the mother to send the child to live with her biological father. When Ezhilarasi refused this demand, Ayyappan became enraged and subjected the innocent girl to brutal torture.

A police officer involved in the case stated: "Ayyappan felt the child was a hindrance to their relationship, and asked Ezhilarasi to send the child to her father. When she refused, he became enraged and tortured the child by burning her entire body with cigarettes."

Investigators further confirmed that the abuse occurred with Ezhilarasi's knowledge, indicating her complicity in the horrific acts against her own daughter.

Legal Proceedings and Medical Condition

Both Ezhilarasi and Ayyappan have been formally arrested and remanded in custody at the Dharmapuri prison as the investigation continues. Meanwhile, the three-year-old victim remains under intensive medical care at the government hospital, where doctors are treating her severe injuries.

The case has drawn significant attention to child protection issues in the region, with authorities emphasizing their commitment to pursuing justice for the young victim. The Dharmapuri Town Police are continuing their investigation into the full extent of the abuse and any potential additional charges that may apply in this disturbing case.
