Dharwad Police Crack Charred Body Murder Case Within Hours, Arrest Three Suspects
In a swift investigative operation, Dharwad police have solved the mysterious case of a charred body found inside a burnt car near Ramapur village in Dharwad taluk. The deceased has been identified as Raju Bolashetty, son of the late former MLA Baburao Bolashetty from Bailhongal. Police have taken three accused into custody in connection with the murder, which appears to stem from a personal dispute.
Discovery of the Crime Scene and Initial Challenges
The case came to light on Tuesday when a WagonR car with a completely burnt body inside was discovered in a forest area near Ramapur, triggering widespread concern and alarm in the region. Immediate identification of the victim proved difficult due to the severe charring of the body. However, police traced the vehicle number and identified the car as belonging to Raju Bolashetty of Udikeri village in Bailhongal taluk, Belagavi district.
Raju Bolashetty, who was engaged in agriculture and ran educational institutions, had been reported missing since Monday, March 23. His mobile phone was switched off, raising suspicions among family members and associates, who stated he had no known enmities. This disappearance prompted a rapid police response, leading to the gathering of crucial evidence.
Investigation Reveals Motive and Modus Operandi
According to police sources, the murder originated from a personal dispute involving a woman from the same village. On Monday evening, Raju allegedly called the woman to his farmland, where they spent some time together. Later, the woman's son and her associate, who had already reached the spot, allegedly attacked Raju and killed him by striking his head with a stick.
The accused then reportedly transported the body in Raju's car to a forest area near Ramapur in Dharwad taluk. On the way, they purchased about 10 litres of petrol from a fuel station. Later that night, they set the car and the body on fire in an attempt to destroy evidence, before fleeing the scene in another vehicle.
Arrests and Ongoing Investigation
Police have taken into custody the woman, her son, and her associate in connection with the murder. Further investigation is underway to ascertain additional motives and gather more details about the crime. A hunt has been launched to nab another absconding accused, as authorities work to ensure all involved are brought to justice.
