Kashmiri Doctor Arrested in Major Terror Crackdown
Indian authorities have made a significant breakthrough in a terror investigation with the arrest of Dr Muzammil Shakil, a medical professional, after security forces recovered a massive cache of explosive material from his rented accommodation in Faridabad. The operation, which unfolded on Monday morning, led to the seizure of 360 kg of explosive material and ammunition from a house in Dhauj village, sending shockwaves through the security establishment.
Family's Emotional Denial and Delhi's Tragic Blast
The doctor's family has vehemently denied any involvement in terrorist activities. His mother, Naseema, revealed that she learned about her son's arrest from others and had been unable to contact him for approximately four years. "He left home about four years ago. He was working as a doctor in Delhi. We had no information about him during this time," she told ANI. The family's distress was compounded when their attempts to meet the arrested doctor were reportedly denied by police authorities.
In a tragic development hours after the explosives recovery, the capital witnessed a devastating high-intensity explosion near the historic Red Fort. The blast, which occurred around 7 pm on Monday, November 10, 2025, at the Subhash Marg traffic signal, claimed at least 13 lives and caused significant damage to nearby vehicles. The proximity of these two events has raised serious concerns about potential connections between them.
Investigation Reveals Complex Network
Police officials have identified Dr Muzammil Shakil as an MBBS graduate who was teaching at Al Falah University in Dhauj at the time of his arrest. During a press briefing, Faridabad Police Commissioner Satender Kumar Gupta confirmed the doctor's arrest and the recovery of explosives from his residence.
The doctor's brother, Azad Shakil, spoke to PTI defending his family's reputation. "He last visited us in June during our father's surgery. Everyone is alleging that he is a terrorist, but we have nothing to do with it. There hasn't been a single case against our family in 50 years," he stated. The brother emphasized their patriotic credentials, mentioning they had "faced stone-pelting for India," and revealed that his sister's marriage, which the arrested doctor was supposed to attend, had been cancelled following the developments.
Security agencies are currently investigating the possibility that the Delhi blast and the Faridabad explosives recovery are part of a larger terror network operating across state lines. The investigation has been intensified following the tragic incident that left multiple families devastated.
Among the victims was Pankaj Sahni, whose mother Gayatri Devi was seen mourning his loss. Another grieving relative, Bhuri from UP's Amroha, who lost her brother in the explosion, expressed her anguish to ANI: "He was my brother. I don't know how all of this happened. He was coming back from duty. He has three children, two daughters and one son. How will my sister-in-law raise them? This has been done by terrorists; they should be punished."
The incident has prompted a nationwide security alert as authorities continue to investigate the connections between the arrested doctor, the massive explosives haul, and the deadly Delhi blast that has left the nation in shock.
