A tragic road accident claimed the life of a 29-year-old doctor in Kolhapur district early Tuesday morning. The incident occurred on the Kolhapur-Gaganbawda road at Marali village in Panhala tehsil when his SUV collided head-on with a truck.
Victim Identified
The deceased has been identified as Dr. Sunil Suresh Nandgaonkar, a resident of Mandur village in Gaganbawda tehsil. He was returning home after his duties when the accident took place. Dr. Nandgaonkar practiced at a hospital in Kolhapur and also ran his own clinic. He was actively involved in setting up a new clinic at the time of his untimely demise.
Accident Details
According to police reports, the collision was so severe that the SUV was reduced to a mangled wreck. Local residents rushed to the scene and immediately called for an ambulance. Despite their efforts, Dr. Nandgaonkar could not be saved and was declared dead on arrival.
The truck driver involved in the accident fled the spot immediately after the crash. A case has been registered at the Kale police station against the absconding driver. A senior police officer confirmed that an investigation has been initiated to trace the truck driver and ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
