Doctor's Family Dies in Apparent Suicide Pact at Andhra Pradesh Lodge
In a tragic incident, three members of a doctor's family have died in a suspected suicide pact at a lodge in Palnadu district, Andhra Pradesh. The incident occurred at Dinesh Grand Lodge in Narasaraopeta, sending shockwaves through the local community.
Details of the Deceased
The deceased have been identified as K Sankara Kumari, aged 30, her husband Dr K Gopi, and their three-year-old daughter, K Mounika. Kumari and Mounika passed away on Sunday, while Dr Gopi succumbed to his injuries on Monday morning while undergoing medical treatment.
Police reports indicate that Dr Gopi worked as an anaesthesiologist at AIIMS Bhopal, and his wife Sankara Kumari was employed as a nurse. The couple originally hailed from Satuluru in Nadendla mandal of Palnadu district.
Sequence of Events
Dr Gopi, along with his wife and daughter, had traveled to Narasaraopeta from Bhopal on Saturday. They checked into the lodge, located under the One Town police station limits, on Saturday night.
According to preliminary investigations, the doctor allegedly injected an altered dose of medication into his wife and daughter, and later administered a similar injection to himself. He reportedly shared videos of this act with his relatives and also sent the location of the lodge to them.
Discovery and Response
The lodge staff became suspicious when the family did not emerge from their room by Sunday afternoon and promptly informed the police. Concurrently, the doctor's relatives also arrived at the location after receiving the distressing communications.
Police officers broke open the door and discovered the three family members lying unconscious. They were immediately shifted to a private hospital for emergency treatment. Unfortunately, Sankara Kumari and Mounika died during treatment on Sunday afternoon, while Dr Gopi passed away the following morning.
Possible Motive and Investigation
Police suspect that the family may have taken this extreme step due to Mounika's deteriorating health condition. Authorities have registered a case and are conducting a thorough investigation to establish the exact reasons behind the suspected suicide pact.
