Doctor's Wife and Daughter Die in Suspected Suicide Pact in Palnadu District
In a deeply tragic incident, a doctor's wife and their three-year-old daughter have died in what police suspect was a suicide pact in Palnadu district. The doctor himself is currently battling for his life in a hospital, with authorities investigating the heartbreaking case that unfolded over the weekend.
Details of the Tragic Incident
The incident occurred at a private lodge house in Narasaraopet town of Palnadu district. According to the One Town police, Dr K Gopi, an anaesthesiologist at AIIMS-Bhopal, along with his nurse-wife K Sankara Kumari and their daughter K Mounika (3), had traveled from Bhopal to Narasaraopet and checked into the lodge on Saturday night. The couple originally hailed from Satuluru of Nadendla mandal in Palnadu district.
At the lodge, police reports indicate that Gopi allegedly injected an altered dose of medication to both Kumari and young Mounika. He then took a dose himself and reportedly shared videos of this act with relatives, along with sending them the location of the lodge. When the family failed to step out of their room by Sunday afternoon, lodge staff grew concerned and alerted the police.
Police Investigation and Medical Response
Meanwhile, the doctor's relatives also arrived at the lodge. A police team broke open the room's door and discovered all three family members unconscious. They were immediately shifted to a private hospital, where tragically, Kumari and Mounika were pronounced dead. Gopi remains in critical condition, fighting for his life.
"We have registered a case and an investigation is ongoing to establish the exact reason behind this family suicide pact," stated police officials. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the family had no apparent financial problems, and no suicide note was found at the location. The bodies have been shifted for post-mortem examination as authorities continue their inquiry.
Possible Motive Under Investigation
Police suspect that the daughter's deteriorating health condition may have been a driving factor behind this tragic decision. The investigation is focusing on understanding the circumstances that led to this extreme step by the medical professional and his family.
This incident has sent shockwaves through the local community and medical circles, raising questions about mental health support systems for healthcare professionals and families facing health crises. Authorities are urging anyone experiencing emotional distress to seek help through available support channels.
