Driver, Conductor Burnt Alive in Rohtak Highway Accident

A devastating road accident on National Highway-152D near Charkhi Dadri has resulted in the tragic deaths of two individuals, who were burnt alive after their trailer was involved in a violent collision. The incident occurred late on Wednesday night, sending shockwaves through the region.

The Midnight Collision and Inferno

According to police reports, the horrific event unfolded around midnight near Kamod village. A trailer was stationary on the roadside when it was violently rammed from behind by another trailer traveling at high speed. The second vehicle was loaded with mustard, a detail that would prove catastrophic.

The impact of the collision was immediate and severe. It triggered a massive blaze that engulfed both heavy vehicles in moments. Flames leaped high into the night sky, creating a scene of terror. The fire spread with such rapid intensity that the driver and conductor in the front trailer—48-year-old Rajesh from Khanda Kheri village in Hisar and 40-year-old Jaswant Singh from Roopgarh village in Jind district—were trapped inside the cabin. Officials stated there was no window for escape, and both men succumbed to the flames.

Nine-Hour Battle to Control the Blaze

The presence of the mustard-laden cargo and the force of the crash caused the fire to become extremely fierce and challenging to extinguish. Emergency services were swiftly alerted. Fire brigades from Charkhi Dadri and Bhiwani rushed to the spot, deploying a total of seven fire tenders in a desperate operation.

Firefighters faced an uphill battle against the raging inferno. They fought the flames for nearly nine grueling hours before finally managing to bring the fire under control. The operation highlighted the extreme dangers faced by first responders in such catastrophic scenarios.

Aftermath and Investigation

In a grim recovery operation on Thursday morning, the charred bodies of Rajesh and Jaswant Singh were retrieved from the cabin of their trailer. The police have sent the remains to the civil hospital for a post-mortem examination and have informed the grieving families.

While the two men in the first trailer lost their lives, the collision also resulted in injuries. Two other individuals traveling in the second trailer sustained injuries and were promptly taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Their current condition is being monitored.

An investigating officer present at the site confirmed the sequence of events. The police are continuing their probe into the exact circumstances that led to the speeding trailer crashing into the parked vehicle, focusing on factors like driver fatigue, road conditions, and vehicle speed. This tragic incident on NH-152D serves as a stark reminder of the critical importance of road safety, especially for heavy transport vehicles on India's national highways.
