Fatal Multi-Vehicle Collision on Pilibhit-Basti Highway Claims One Life
A tragic road accident on the Pilibhit-Basti NH-730 resulted in one fatality and two injuries on Tuesday. The incident occurred near a petrol pump close to the Jara police outpost under the jurisdiction of the Gajraula police station in Pilibhit district.
Details of the Accident and Casualties
According to police reports, a speeding dumper collided with two trucks that were parked near the petrol pump. The impact of the crash led to severe consequences for those involved.
- Sohan Pal, aged 35, sustained critical injuries in the collision. He was initially taken to the primary health centre in Gajraula but was later referred to the autonomous state medical college. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries while being transferred.
- Rajendra Sharma, 43, and Sonu Yadav, 38, both suffered minor injuries and were also treated at the primary health centre.
Sequence of Events Leading to the Crash
Officials provided a detailed account of how the accident unfolded. The two trucks had arrived at a nearby weighbridge prior to loading wheat straw. As one of the trucks was reversing after completing the weighing process, a dumper traveling at high speed from the Puranpur side rammed into it.
The force of the collision caused the truck to be pushed into another truck that was parked on the roadside. Simultaneously, a truck carrying stone ballast and coming from Pilibhit city collided with the dumper and the two other trucks, exacerbating the severity of the crash.
Police Response and Investigation
Law enforcement authorities promptly arrived at the scene to manage the aftermath. With the assistance of a crane, they worked to clear the road and restore normal traffic flow.
SHO Brajveer Singh confirmed that the dumper and all three trucks involved in the accident have been impounded. He further stated that an FIR (First Information Report) will be registered once a written complaint is received from the concerned parties. The investigation is ongoing to determine the exact causes and responsibilities behind this devastating incident.
