DVAC Registers FIR Against Former TN Minister KN Nehru

The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) has officially registered a First Information Report (FIR) in connection with a cash-for-jobs complaint against former Municipal Administration and Water Supply Minister K.N. Nehru. This development came to light before the Madras High Court on Friday, where the First Division Bench, comprising Chief Justice Sushrut Arvind Dharmadhikari and Justice G. Arul Murugan, is currently hearing a contempt case against the DVAC for failing to register a case earlier.

Background of the Case

AIADMK Rajya Sabha member I.S. Inbadurai had filed a contempt petition against DVAC officials for allegedly failing to comply with the court's direction to register the FIR. The court is also simultaneously hearing a review petition filed by Nehru in his personal capacity, seeking to challenge the earlier orders.

Advocate General's Submission

During the proceedings, Advocate General Vijay Narayan informed the bench that the DVAC had registered the FIR after obtaining his legal opinion. He stated that the High Court had directed the DVAC on February 20, 2026, to register an FIR without any further delay. The Advocate General assured the court that the investigation would proceed in accordance with the law.
