E-Rickshaw Crash Kills Woman, Injures Two in Ghaziabad

A 50-year-old woman died, and her elderly mother and young daughter sustained injuries after a car collided with the e-rickshaw they were traveling in near Jaipuria Market in Indirapuram on Saturday evening.

Victim Identified as School Teacher

The deceased, Mrinalini Verma, was a private school teacher from Vasundhara. Police stated that she lived with her 24-year-old daughter, Urvi Verma, and her 79-year-old mother, Manjul Shrivastava, following her divorce. The accident occurred around 9:30 pm in Niti Khand.

Details of the Crash

According to police, the three women had gone shopping at Jaipuria Market and were returning home in an e-rickshaw when a speeding Maruti Ciaz struck the three-wheeler. The impact overturned the e-rickshaw, leaving all three women seriously injured.

A police team reached the spot immediately after receiving information and transported the injured to a nearby hospital. Passersby also assisted in rushing them to Yashoda Hospital, where doctors declared Mrinalini Verma dead.

Her mother and daughter are still undergoing treatment. The e-rickshaw driver sustained minor injuries and was discharged.

Arrest of the Car Driver

ACP (Indirapuram) Abhishek Srivastava said the car driver, Vishal Aggarwal, a businessman from Ashiyana Upvan in Indirapuram, was arrested at the scene and the vehicle seized. He was returning home from the local market with his wife when his car collided with the e-rickshaw.

Based on a complaint filed by the woman's family, police registered an FIR under Section 281 of the BNS for rash driving and Section 106 for causing death by negligence.
