Meerut: An 18-year-old e-rickshaw driver, who had been missing for two days, was found dead in a drain in Bulandshahr district on Tuesday, police said. The body of Vipin Kumar, a resident of Salempur Kayasth village in the Sikandrabad area, was recovered from a sack found in a drain along Khurja Road. The victim was later identified by his sister.
Preliminary Examination
A preliminary examination revealed rope marks around the victim’s neck, leading investigators to suspect that he was strangled before his body was dumped in the drain, police said. The post-mortem report is awaited to confirm the exact cause of death.
Case Registered Against Minors
A case has been registered against two named accused, both minors, based on a complaint filed by the victim’s family under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections 103 (murder) and 238 (destruction of evidence). Bulandshahr SSP Dinesh Kumar stated, “The suspects have been taken into custody for questioning, and all angles, including personal enmity, are being investigated.”
Protests Erupt
The incident triggered protests by family members and villagers, who blocked a highway outside Sikandrabad police station demanding swift action against those responsible. Police later dispersed the protesters. Authorities have assured a thorough investigation and strict action against the perpetrators.
