The Khanna police have arrested eight individuals for allegedly barging into a home and brutally assaulting a family. The attack, initially suspected as a robbery, was found to be motivated by an old financial dispute, according to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Darpan Ahluwalia.
Arrests and Investigation
On July 14, a case was registered against unknown persons for assaulting a family. During a thorough investigation, police identified the mastermind as Kuldeep Kumar, a resident of Surya Enclave, Khanna. Kuldeep’s aide, Davinder Singh of Basant Nagar, Khanna, allegedly hired five individuals to execute the plan. The hired suspects were identified as Sandeep Kumar of Chatarpura village, Fatehgarh Sahib; Gurjant Singh of Gobindgarh; Lakhwinder Singh of Patiala; and Gurdeep Singh of Fatehgarh Sahib. Additionally, Sukhdeep Singh of Patiala provided the car used in the incident.
Police traced and arrested all eight accused. The silver chain stolen from the complainant’s son was sold by Gurjant Singh and Sandeep Kumar to goldsmith Lalit Kumar of Amloh, who was also arrested.
Motive Revealed
SSP Ahluwalia stated, "During interrogation of the accused, it came to light that this incident was not committed with the intention of robbery. The complainant had an argument with Kuldeep regarding some financial transaction, which was found to be the reason for the attack." The police clarified that the assault was premeditated and stemmed from a long-standing dispute.
Ongoing Action
The Khanna police have confirmed that efforts are ongoing to apprehend any remaining suspects. The arrested individuals are in police custody and further investigations are underway to uncover the full extent of the financial disagreement.
