Prayagraj: A 70-year-old man identified as Ram Dulare Kori, a resident of Lal Ki Saray (Shivkuti), was allegedly shot dead by his son and an accomplice near Lalla Chungi area under the limits of Colonelganj police station on Saturday morning. Upon being alerted, senior police officials including ACP (Colonelganj) VK Mishra along with forces rushed to the spot and carried out investigations.
Police Investigation
ACP Mishra stated, “Two unknown bike-borne miscreants allegedly shot the elderly man to death near Lalla Chungi when he left his house for a morning walk. Three police teams were formed and with the help of CCTV footage, cops managed to ascertain the identities of the assailants.”
He claimed that one of the assailants identified as Akhilesh alias Shiva was the youngest son of the deceased. Initial investigations also revealed that the elderly man had lodged a maintenance (bharan-poshan) case in the family court, and the court had directed the sons to ensure maintenance for the elderly man.
ACP added that more details would be cleared once the arrest of the assailants was made. Teams have been entrusted to arrest the assailants.
Unidentified Woman's Body Found
Meanwhile, the mutilated body of an unknown woman was found near Sadwa village under the limits of Kaudhiyara police station in the trans-Yamuna pocket of the district on Saturday afternoon. Initial police investigations revealed that the body of the woman was more than five days old and was sent for post-mortem. The identity of the woman has yet to be ascertained.
