A 45-year-old woman was brutally murdered by her estranged husband at Pandian Nagar on the outskirts of Palani in Dindigul district. The deceased has been identified as Kaleswari, a resident of Pandian Nagar.
Discovery of the Body
Police reported that on Monday, the body of an unidentified woman, estimated to be around 40 years old, was discovered amidst thickets in Pandian Nagar, located behind the Palani railway station. Initial suspicions suggested she was murdered after being struck on the head with a stone. The body was recovered by the police and sent to Palani Government Hospital for an autopsy.
Background of the Victim and Accused
Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased was living alone after separating from her second husband, Magudeeswaran, a native of Melakottai panchayat. Police stated that the couple had been experiencing persistent marital discord due to allegations of Kaleswari’s associations with other individuals.
The Incident
On Sunday night, Magudeeswaran reportedly confronted Kaleswari regarding these issues. The confrontation escalated into a violent altercation, during which Magudeeswaran struck Kaleswari on the head with a heavy stone, causing her immediate death.
Police Action
The Palani Town police registered a case and successfully tracked and apprehended Magudeeswaran shortly after the incident. Further investigations are ongoing.
