A shocking incident of murder has come to light in Davanagere district, where a former gram panchayat member was brutally killed by his own relative over financial dealings. The crime took place in Nalluru village under Channagiri taluk late Friday night, sending shockwaves through the local community.

The victim has been identified as Attaulla, aged 38, a former member of the gram panchayat. According to police, he was standing near a motorcycle in front of a village bakery when two assailants approached him from behind and attacked him with a machete. The attack was so severe that Attaulla died on the spot due to multiple injuries.
Accused Surrender at Police Station
Following the murder, the accused persons—identified as Sheikh Jubiwulla and Sheikh Dastagir, both residents of Bhadravathi—went to the Channagiri police station and surrendered themselves. They reportedly admitted to the crime during the initial questioning. Police have registered a case and arrested both individuals for further investigation.

Channagiri Circle Police Inspector (CPI) Ravish provided details about the case. He stated, "Attaulla was murdered following financial dealings with the accused. Sheikh Jubiwulla and Sheikh Dastagir have surrendered at the station, admitting to the crime. They have been arrested and further investigation is under way."
Family Devastated
The victim's family was left devastated upon seeing Attaulla lying in a pool of blood. The body has been sent to a government hospital for postmortem examination. After the autopsy, the remains will be handed over to the family for final rites, police confirmed.
