Former Student Brutally Attacks Teacher with Blade in Mainpuri Street Assault
A shocking incident of violence has emerged from Mainpuri, Uttar Pradesh, where a 17-year-old former student of a private school allegedly attacked his 25-year-old woman teacher with a sharp object on a public street. The assault, which occurred on January 20 around 5:30 PM in the Kotwali area, left the victim with serious and potentially permanent facial injuries.
CCTV Footage Reveals Horrific Details of the Attack
The brutal incident came to light after a 1.5-minute CCTV video surfaced on February 4, triggering widespread public outrage. The footage shows the accused forcibly stopping the woman near a residential neighborhood, attempting to kiss her, and then chasing and dragging her by the neck. When she resisted his advances, he appears to attack her face with a blade-like weapon, causing deep injuries to both her upper and lower lips. The assailant fled the scene only when bystanders began to gather.
Police Register Case Under Multiple BNS Sections
Police registered a formal case on February 1 under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The charges include Section 74 (assault or criminal force against a woman with intent to outrage her modesty), Section 118(2) (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons), and Section 296 (obscene acts in public places). According to police statements, the accused remains absconding, and multiple teams have been conducting raids to trace and apprehend him.
History of Harassment Preceded Violent Attack
In the police complaint, the teacher's brother revealed that his sister had previously taught at the same school as the accused and had recently resigned due to repeated harassment. "He began blocking her way, making indecent gestures and demanding physical relations. My sister complained to his mother but the behavior continued," the brother stated in his official complaint.
Even after the victim switched to another school in the same city, the brother alleged that the accused continued following her and harassing her during her daily commute to and from work. "He threatened her and started lying in wait outside her school," the complaint detailed, painting a picture of escalating intimidation that culminated in the violent attack.
Medical Treatment and Investigation Details
The attack occurred when the woman was on her way to tutor a retired major general's grandson. According to the brother's account, "He dragged her into the street, tried to kiss her, and when she resisted, slashed her face. Her lips were cut so severely that she will be permanently disfigured." After locals rushed to help and the accused fled while threatening to kill her, an unidentified person took her to the district hospital.
From there, she was referred to Saifai Medical College. However, as no plastic surgeon was available at that facility, the family ultimately admitted her to a private hospital in Agra for specialized treatment.
Kotwali Station House Officer Fateh Bahadur explained the police response timeline: "They prioritized medical treatment initially. Once we received the complaint, a case was registered. We are using CCTV footage for further investigation, and teams have been formed to locate the accused." The police are actively pursuing all leads to bring the perpetrator to justice while the victim continues her recovery from the traumatic assault.
