Factory Worker Arrested for Murder of Girlfriend

Bengaluru: A 27-year-old factory worker from Hebbagodi in Electronics City was arrested on charges of murdering his girlfriend after she threatened to file a rape case against him.

Police identified the accused as Rathan Das, 27, who had an affair with Anjali Nath, 47. Anjali worked as a domestic help, and both were originally from Assam. According to police, Anjali was pressuring Rathan to marry her.

On the night of May 9, the couple was sitting near Tirupalya lake when Anjali again asked Rathan to marry her. When he refused, she threatened to file a rape case. Enraged by the threat, Das allegedly strangled her to death, left her body near the lake, and fled the scene.
