The city cyber police initiated legal action on Saturday night following a complaint lodged by V Vasuki, the secretary of the general education department. According to the First Information Report (FIR), the fabricated document was meticulously designed to appear as an authentic official order issued by the education department. The fake order even featured the state government emblem, lending it a deceptive appearance of legitimacy that misled many recipients.
Police authorities confirmed that the fraudulent vacation order spread rapidly across multiple digital platforms, including popular messaging applications and various social media groups. This widespread circulation created considerable anxiety within school communities about an unexpected alteration to the established academic calendar. Several educational institutions reportedly fielded numerous queries from concerned parents seeking immediate clarification about the purported vacation changes.

City police commissioner K Karthick announced that a detailed investigation has been launched to identify and apprehend those responsible for creating and disseminating the fake document. "We are closely monitoring multiple social media accounts and digital footprints linked to the circulation of the forged order," Commissioner Karthick told media representatives. He emphasized that investigative efforts are actively focused on tracing the precise origin of the misleading message.
In response to the incident, the general education department issued an official clarification statement confirming that no decision whatsoever had been made to shorten the summer vacation period. The department urgently appealed to the public to exercise caution and refrain from falling prey to such misinformation campaigns circulating online.
