Family Alleges Medical Negligence After Bull Attack Victim Dies

A 35-year-old man from Gerukatte in Belthangady died after being injured by a bull, and his family has alleged medical negligence on the part of a private hospital that initially treated him. The deceased, identified as Muhammad Sharif P, was attacked by a bull at his home on the night of May 14. He was immediately taken to a private hospital in Uppinangady for treatment.

Allegations of Negligence

According to the complainant, Nasiruddin P, who is the brother of the deceased, the doctors at the hospital failed to provide proper care. He claimed that due to their negligence, Sharif's condition deteriorated rapidly. On May 16, he was transferred to a hospital in Mangaluru for advanced treatment. Despite the efforts of the medical team there, Sharif succumbed to his injuries on May 20.

Police Investigation Underway

Based on Nasiruddin's complaint, the Belthangady police have registered a case under Section 194(3)(iv) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Authorities have initiated correspondence with the relevant department to form a medical team that will investigate the allegations. The team is expected to provide a detailed report on the matter.
