Family Assaulted Over Obscene Messages to Minor in Indore, Police Accused of Bias
Family Assaulted Over Obscene Messages to Minor in Indore

A dispute over alleged obscene messages sent to a minor girl escalated into a violent assault on an entire family in Indore's Aerodrome area. The victims have accused police of downplaying the case by registering only a minor assault offence despite serious allegations.

Incident Details

According to the complaint filed by a woman from Ambikapuri, a youth sent obscene messages to her minor daughter on May 23. The woman, along with her husband and son, went to the accused's house to confront him about the messages. During the discussion, an argument broke out, and the youth became aggressive, issuing threats. The complainant alleged that the youth's father also arrived at the scene and joined the confrontation, leading to a physical assault.

Nature of the Assault

The family claimed that the accused attacked them with wooden sticks, a cricket stump, and fists. The woman and her minor daughter were also assaulted when they tried to intervene. The victims alleged that the accused's family wields influence in the locality, as the accused's father is a government employee. They claimed this influence led to police registering the FIR under lesser sections despite the severity of the allegations.

Police Response and Allegations

The Aerodrome police registered a case against a group of men following the complaint. However, the family later approached the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), alleging that the investigation had not adequately reflected the gravity of the incident. They also claimed to have faced pressure from police during the course of the case.

CCTV footage of the alleged assault has surfaced, which could provide crucial evidence. DCP Narendra Rawat stated that the matter was being investigated. The family continues to demand a fair inquiry and appropriate legal action against the accused.
