Family of Three Found Dead in Bokaro, Debt Suspected

A tragic incident has shaken the city of Bokaro in Jharkhand, where three members of a family, including a two-year-old boy, were discovered dead in an outhouse of a residential building on Wednesday. The police's initial investigation points towards severe financial distress as the likely cause for the apparent suicides.

Details of the Heartbreaking Discovery

The deceased have been identified as Kundan Kumar Tiwari (35), his wife Rekha (33), and their young son Reyansh Kumar. The family resided in Sector 9B, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Harla police station. Kundan was originally a native of Banka district in Bihar.

According to police reports, neighbours sensed something was wrong and promptly alerted the Harla police. Upon arrival, officers made the grim discovery: Kundan and Rekha were found hanging, while the lifeless body of their son, Reyansh, was found inside the same room. Notably, no suicide note was recovered from the scene of the crime.

Police Investigation Points to Financial Crisis

Bokaro Superintendent of Police, Harvinder Singh, addressed the media, stating that the preliminary findings suggest a link to debt. “Prima facie, it looks like suicides linked to debt. We are conducting a thorough investigation. The cause of death will be known from postmortem and other evidence,” SP Singh said.

Information gathered from neighbours indicated that the family was under severe financial distress. A significant factor appears to be Kundan's lack of a steady source of income, which allegedly pushed the family into a debilitating debt cycle.

Ongoing Probe and Community Impact

The police have registered a case and are pursuing multiple angles in their investigation. The bodies have been sent for postmortem examination, which is expected to provide conclusive evidence regarding the exact cause and time of death.

This incident has cast a pall of gloom over the neighbourhood in Sector 9B, highlighting the extreme desperation that financial instability can cause. It serves as a stark reminder of the pressing socio-economic challenges faced by many families. The police continue their probe to piece together the final hours of the family and establish a definitive motive behind this extreme step.
