The family of the deceased medical aspirant in Patna has voiced profound skepticism and leveled serious allegations against the state government's recent recommendation to transfer the investigation to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). They contend that this decision arrives far too late, potentially after critical evidence has been compromised or destroyed.
Delayed CBI Referral Raises Suspicion
The victim's maternal uncle articulated the family's distrust regarding both the timing and the underlying motives behind the CBI referral. He questioned the prolonged delay, stating, "When the Special Investigation Team (SIT) was being formed, we were demanding a CBI probe. Why did they not grant it then? After so much time has elapsed, they now announce the handover to the CBI." This significant gap, he suggested, may have allowed for the manipulation of evidence, casting doubt on the integrity of the entire investigative process.
Allegations of Police Bias and Forensic Discrepancies
The uncle further alleged that the police prematurely pushed a suicide narrative from the outset, despite emerging forensic indications that might suggest otherwise. He recounted, "They will forcefully assert the girl died by suicide, and we are expected to accept it—this is not possible. They labeled it a poisoning case initially, then claimed nothing happened to her, maintaining the suicide theory from the very beginning." He highlighted a crucial moment when the victim briefly regained consciousness at the hospital on January 8 and told her mother that something had happened to her, contradicting the official narrative.
Early Suspicious and Hostel Room Cleanup
The family's suspicions intensified early in the case, particularly upon learning that the hostel room was cleaned and bedsheets were washed on January 7, while the girl was still unconscious. The uncle expressed alarm, saying, "We got suspicious at that time only—why are people washing, why cleaning? It appears to be a very big game." This action raised red flags about potential evidence destruction or tampering, further eroding their trust in the authorities.
Pressure Tactics and Isolation Attempts
Referring to recent interactions with senior officials, including a chaotic meeting at Bihar Director General of Police Vinay Kumar's residence, the uncle claimed the family faced pressure tactics. He described inconsistent demands for samples and attempts to isolate individual family members, stating, "They are all sold out. We are prepared to provide samples from the entire village, but where is the scope for justice with these people? We could not see it." These experiences have left the family feeling marginalized and mistreated by the very system meant to deliver justice.
Family's Vow to Continue the Struggle
Despite these challenges, the uncle vowed to persist in their quest for justice. He affirmed, "We raised our voice for justice from the beginning, and until we achieve it, we will keep striving, no matter what happens." After a brief meeting with the DGP, the family expressed deep frustration with the investigation and openly declared a complete lack of faith in the Bihar Police, underscoring their disillusionment with the state's handling of the case.
Mother's Heart-Wrenching Accusations
On Friday, the victim's mother conveyed her anguish to reporters, stating, "There is no one here to deliver justice for my daughter. The police are all sold out." She described the probe as fundamentally flawed, alleging that authorities were treating the family as suspects rather than victims. "We approached them for justice, but we are receiving none. It is as though we are the guilty ones," she lamented, highlighting the emotional toll and perceived injustice faced by the grieving family.
