The deceased has been identified as Manilal Mandal. His wife was also injured in the attack and is currently undergoing treatment, police confirmed on Tuesday.

Incident Details

Manilal’s son, Pinku, recounted the events, stating that he was at another family residence in the same village when the incident occurred. He alleged that several villagers arrived at their old house and attacked his father with an iron rod, striking him on the head. Pinku further said that when his mother, Rita Devi, 60, attempted to intervene and save her husband, she was also assaulted.

Following the attack, the family informed the police and called for an ambulance. Manilal was rushed to Godda Sadar Hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries on the way. The couple has two sons and two daughters. Mahagama sub-divisional police officer (SDPO), Varun Rajak, stated, “As per the initial report, both parties had an old dispute related to the grazing of cattle on the field of the deceased. This led to a fresh brawl. An FIR was lodged under relevant sections of the BNS based on the statement of the victim’s son. Further investigation is underway.”
