Tragic Highway Accident Claims Life of Pilibhit Farmer

A devastating road accident on a national highway in Pilibhit district has resulted in the untimely death of a young farmer who was on his way to deliver his agricultural produce. The incident occurred near the Jai Gurudev Ashram on the Bhind-Lipulekh National Highway 731, casting a shadow of grief over the local farming community.

Details of the Fatal Collision

According to police reports released on Tuesday, the victim has been identified as Harish Chandra, a 33-year-old resident of Nasullapur village. He was traveling towards the Bisalpur sugar mill with his crop-loaded cart, which was being pulled by two buffaloes, when tragedy struck. A timber-laden truck coming from the opposite direction collided with his cart in a violent impact that proved fatal.

The force of the collision was so severe that one of the buffaloes died instantly at the scene. The other animal sustained injuries in the harrowing incident that unfolded on this crucial transportation route used by many farmers in the region.

Emergency Response and Investigation

A police team from the Bisalpur Kotwali station promptly arrived at the accident site after being alerted about the collision. They found Harish Chandra critically injured and immediately transported him to the nearest community health centre for urgent medical attention.

Tragically, doctors at the health facility declared him dead upon arrival, indicating the severity of his injuries from the highway accident. His body was subsequently sent for post-mortem examination as part of the standard investigative procedure in such fatal incidents.

SHO Sanjiv Kumar Shukla provided crucial updates about the ongoing investigation, confirming that the truck involved in the accident has been impounded by authorities. However, the driver reportedly fled the scene immediately after the collision, and police teams are actively searching for the individual responsible for this tragic event.

Legal Proceedings and Community Impact

Authorities have indicated that a formal case will be registered once they receive a written complaint regarding the incident. This procedural step is essential for initiating proper legal action against those responsible for the accident that has left a family bereaved and a community in mourning.

The incident highlights the persistent dangers faced by farmers who must transport their crops using traditional methods on busy national highways. Many agricultural workers in rural Uttar Pradesh continue to rely on animal-drawn carts for transportation despite increasing vehicular traffic on these roads.

This tragic event serves as a somber reminder of the need for enhanced road safety measures, particularly in agricultural regions where farmers regularly travel with their produce. The loss of Harish Chandra represents not just a personal tragedy for his family but also underscores the vulnerabilities of those engaged in essential food production activities across India's rural landscape.
