Farrukhabad Village Attack: Elderly Man Killed, Pregnant Woman Injured in Family Assault
In a shocking incident in Farrukhabad, Uttar Pradesh, an elderly man was killed and three people, including a pregnant woman, were seriously injured in a violent attack on Wednesday. The assault occurred in a village under the Kayamganj Kotwali area, allegedly stemming from an old enmity, leading to heightened tension and a heavy police deployment.
Details of the Violent Incident
According to police reports, the attack began when Sarvesh, the nephew of the deceased elderly man Suraj Singh, was returning home after performing the traditional Holi ritual of Aakhat. He was allegedly surrounded by a group of individuals who beat him with sticks and batons. Sarvesh managed to escape and reach his home, but the attackers chased him and barged into the house, launching a brutal assault on the family members inside.
Casualties and Injuries
During the violent altercation, Suraj Singh was struck on the head with a stick and died on the spot. The injured include Meera Devi, the wife of Suraj's younger brother, and Bitana Devi, Sarvesh's wife, who is pregnant. All the injured were rushed to a hospital for urgent medical treatment, with their conditions reported as serious.
Police Response and Tension in the Village
Following the incident, tension gripped the village, prompting authorities to deploy a heavy police force and Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) to maintain law and order.
