A father-son duo was stabbed in a busy market in Jalandhar on Tuesday evening, sending shockwaves through the local community. The incident occurred in the bustling Dhilwan area, known for its heavy footfall and commercial activity.

According to police reports, the victims—identified as 50-year-old Rajesh Kumar and his 22-year-old son, Aman Kumar—were attacked by a group of assailants armed with sharp-edged weapons. The attack took place around 7:30 PM when the duo was returning home after shopping. Eyewitnesses reported that the attackers emerged suddenly and began stabbing the victims indiscriminately before fleeing the scene.
Local shopkeepers and passersby rushed to help the injured, who were immediately taken to the local civil hospital. Rajesh Kumar is reported to be in critical condition with multiple stab wounds to his chest and abdomen, while Aman Kumar sustained injuries to his arms and back. Both are currently undergoing treatment.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jalandhar Rural, Navjot Singh Mahal, confirmed that three suspects have been arrested in connection with the attack. Preliminary investigations suggest that the assault was driven by an old enmity between the families. The SSP stated, “We have taken swift action and apprehended the accused. Further investigations are underway to determine the exact motive and identify any other individuals involved.”
The arrested individuals have been identified as Gaurav Sharma, Vikram Singh, and Rohit Verma, all residents of the same locality. A case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered at the local police station.
