In a brazen attack that has raised serious concerns about public safety, three men on a motorcycle fired indiscriminately at a moving bus in Punjab's Ferozepur district late Tuesday evening. The incident left two persons injured and sent shockwaves through the area.
Chilling Details of the Attack
The terrifying episode unfolded near Lakho Ke Behram village. A Punjab Roadways bus, carrying over 30 passengers, was on its route from Ferozepur to Sri Ganganagar in Rajasthan when it was intercepted by the suspects. According to accounts, one of the assailants, positioned on the rear seat of the motorcycle, fired five to six rounds at the bus's windscreen.
The bullets struck the bus conductor, identified as Amanpreet Singh, and another passenger whose identity is yet to be confirmed. Both victims sustained bullet wounds on their legs in the unprovoked assault. Following the shooting, the attackers fled the scene immediately.
Immediate Aftermath and Police Response
In a state of shock and fear, the driver sped the bus directly to the Lakho Ke Behram police station, located just a few kilometres from the attack site. Police officials confirmed they have launched a full investigation into the matter to identify and apprehend the culprits.
With the bus now part of the investigation, the remaining passengers were left stranded. Authorities asked them to make their own arrangements for their onward journey, adding to the ordeal of the traumatic experience.
