A shocking incident of suspected murder-suicide has left the town of Ferozepur in Punjab reeling. On Thursday morning, four members of a family were discovered dead inside their home, all bearing fatal gunshot wounds.
Gruesome Discovery in Harman Nagar
The grim scene unfolded at the family's residence in Harman Nagar, located near the Baba Ram Lal Gurdwara. The victims have been identified as Amandeep Singh, alias Mahi Sodhi, his wife Jasveer, and their two young daughters, Manveer Kaur (10) and Parmeet Kaur (6). According to preliminary investigations by the Ferozepur police, Amandeep Singh, who was a licensed revolver holder, is believed to have shot his wife and children before turning the weapon on himself.
A Family's Routine Day Turns Tragic
The horrifying discovery was made when the family's domestic help arrived for her routine cleaning duties. After repeated knocks and unanswered phone calls raised alarm, neighbours and tenants of the building decided to force the door open. They were met with the tragic sight of all four bodies lying in a bedroom. A licensed revolver was recovered from the scene by the police.
Neighbours expressed profound shock and disbelief, describing the family as cordial and seemingly normal. They revealed that the family had been seen going out together just the night before the incident, with no visible signs of distress or trouble. Amandeep Singh was involved in property dealing and construction, while his wife Jasveer ran a beauty parlour.
Police Investigation Underway
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Bhupinder Singh confirmed that a forensic team was immediately deployed to examine the scene thoroughly. While initial evidence strongly points towards a murder-suicide, authorities are not ruling out any angles.
"The matter is being investigated from all aspects," stated SSP Bhupinder Singh. "We are awaiting the detailed forensic report and the post-mortem examination findings to conclusively establish the exact sequence of events and the cause of death." The police are also looking into the family's personal and professional backgrounds to understand the possible motive behind this extreme step.
