Ferozepur Police Seize Over 6kg of Heroin in Major Drone Drug Bust

In a significant breakthrough against trans-border drug trafficking, the Ferozepur police have apprehended a suspect and recovered more than 6 kilograms of heroin following a week-long intelligence-led and technical operation. This operation marks a critical step in combating the illicit drug trade in the region.

Intelligence-Led Operation Leads to Arrest

Acting on a specific tip-off, the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) staff intercepted a suspicious individual during vehicle checks near the Ferozepur-Mallanwala road. Ferozepur SSP Bhupinder Singh confirmed that during a thorough search, authorities recovered 6.038 kg of heroin from the suspect. The drugs were allegedly smuggled into the area using a drone, highlighting the evolving methods employed by traffickers.

Suspect with Criminal Background Identified

The accused has been identified as Jaswinder Singh, aged 29, a resident of Ferozepur district. Notably, he was out on bail at the time of his arrest. Police have registered a case under sections 21, 61, and 85 of the NDPS Act in connection with this seizure.

SSP Bhupinder Singh revealed that the suspect has a substantial criminal background, with several cases already registered against him. These include charges under the BNS, NDPS Act, and Arms Act at Ghal Khurd and Ferozepur City police stations, as well as under the Arms Act and NDPS Act at Mohali.

Ongoing Investigation and Network Disruption

The police have initiated further investigations to trace the source of the recovered contraband and to identify other members of the drug supply network. This effort aims to dismantle the broader trafficking operations and prevent future smuggling activities.

This seizure underscores the persistent challenges posed by drug trafficking and the proactive measures being taken by law enforcement to safeguard communities from such illicit activities.
