Police in Ramgarh district have initiated legal action against three individuals after a disturbing incident involving a minor boy came to light. An FIR was officially registered on Sunday against Bablu Tikdhari and two other residents of Diesel Colony in Patratu. They face serious allegations for tying a seven-year-old boy to a tree and physically assaulting him.
Details of the Alleged Assault
The incident, which allegedly occurred on January 9, stemmed from accusations that the young boy had stolen money from a neighbour. According to the police, the accused took the law into their own hands. Instead of reporting the matter to authorities or the child's family, they resorted to extreme physical punishment. The minor was reportedly tied to a tree and then beaten.
Police Action and Legal Framework
The case came to the forefront after a video recording of the assault began circulating widely on social media platforms on Saturday. This viral clip prompted immediate attention. Shivlal Gupta, the Officer-in-Charge of Patratu police station, confirmed the developments. The First Information Report was filed based on a written complaint submitted by the victim's elder brother.
Gupta stated that the FIR has been registered under the stringent Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and other relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). No arrests have been made so far, and the investigation is actively ongoing to gather further evidence and ascertain the complete sequence of events.
Community Impact and Ongoing Probe
The circulation of the video has caused significant outrage within the local community and among netizens. Incidents of vigilante justice, especially those involving children, raise severe concerns about child safety and legal awareness. The police's invocation of the POCSO Act indicates the seriousness with which they are treating the case of cruelty and assault against a minor. The authorities have assured that a thorough probe is underway to ensure justice is served.
